KKLZ presents summer blues festival


NORTH LAS VEGAS - The summertime blues are back and better than ever as KKLZ presents Cannerystock Rock N Blues Fest at the The Club in The Cannery Casino & Hotel. Scheduled to perform are well-known artists such as Ten Years After, Edgar Winter Band, Canned Heat, Rick Derringer and Pat Travers, most of whom appeared at the original Woodstock Art and Music Festival in New York in 1969. The concert will take place at The Club inThe Cannery Casino & Hotel at 2121 East Craig Road, North Las Vegas, Nev. on Saturday, July 27, 2013 at 6:00 p.m.

The bands scheduled to appear include:

Ten Years After – Known for their now-legendary performance of “I’m Going Home” at Woodstock, this English blues-rock band scored eight Top 40 hits between 1968 and 1973 on the UK Albums Chart. The group also is known for songs “I’d Love to Change the World” and “Love Like a Man.”

Edgar Winter Band – Best known for songs like “Frankenstein” and the popular “Free Ride.” Released in 1973, the studio album “They Only Come Out at Night” peaked at the number three position on the Billboard Hot 200 and stayed on the charts for an astounding 80 weeks. The album was certified gold in April 1973 and double platinum in November 1986.

Canned Heat – This California rock/blues band was formed in 1965 in Los Angeles and known for hits such as “Going Up the Country” and “On the Road Again.” “Going Up the Country” went to number one in 25 countries around the world, and rose to number 11 on the U.S. National Chart, it would go on to become the unofficial theme song of Woodstock.

Rick Derringer – A guitarist, vocalist, and entertainer, Derringer’s career took off at the young age of 17 when The McCoys single “Hang On Sloopy” hit number one on the charts. Derringer spent several years touring with The McCoys until 1969 when he turned to blues rock, scoring a 1973 hit “Rock and Roll, Hoochie Koo,” and worked with Edgar and Johnny Winter with the group Steely Dan.


Pat Travers – Pat Travers, famous for the songs "Snortin' Whiskey" and "Boom, Boom (Out Go The Lights).” Travers has been influencing generations of guitarists since 1976.

Opening the show will be local artist, Kelly Sheehan with her incredible Janis Joplin-like sound.
