(Las Vegas:  March 1, 2017) – Helping Hands of Vegas Valley (HHOVV), nonprofit organization that provides assistive services to senior citizens in Southern Nevada, is partnering with Kit’s Kitchen for a special dinner, “Seniors Serving Seniors” this Friday, March 3 from 2 p.m. until 5 p.m. at Kit’s Kitchen (2021 W Sunset Rd, Henderson, NV 89014).

“Lack of transportation and isolation are common dilemmas for many senior citizens in the Las Vegas Valley,” said Dana Serrata, HHOVV executive director. “Our senior clients often do not have opportunities to go into the community for a nice meal and to socialize with others.”

Kit’s Kitchen. is an experimental nonprofit eatery designed to help youths gain hospitality industry experience and serve affordable meals to the community. The venue goes hand in hand with the nonprofit Kids in Transition Foundation, which opened in February 2016 to help underprivileged youths through meals, scholarships, mentoring and financial aid.

“KIT’s Kitchen is a restaurant that’s for everyone,” owner Chanthy Walsh said. “Whether they have deep pocketbooks or not, anyone can afford a great meal. the price on the menu covers the food cost, all tips are considered donations to help youth through the Foundation, since everyone in the restaurant is a volunteer.”

“We feel that more collaboration should take place to connect people to build up our community,” states Dana Serrata of Helping Hands of Vegas Valley, “Intergenerational opportunities like this one are important and we are grateful to Kit’s Kitchen for sponsoring this dinner for our seniors.”
