Corporate Challenge is a way for employees to build teamwork and friendships while being more physically active. It has helped to foster company pride, corporate wellness and unity since 1985. Companies are divided into three divisions, based on the number of employees. This makes competition fairer, so companies with only a few employees are not challenging those with a base of thousands. Smaller companies that share business often join forces to form a combined team. Many of today’s most successful local organizations have been involved in this annual activity for years.
This year’s competition began March 4 and has included most sports as well as less strenuous activities — a blood drive, chess, cornhole, 8-ball, kart racing, poker, table tennis, trivia challenge, Bpong, horseshoes, laser tag, bocce, weight loss, the Mayor’s walk and a T-shirt design contest. Some 18,000 players and spectators have participated throughout the 40 events. Corporate Challenge is operated by the city of Las Vegas. Presenting sponsors are NV Energy, Zappos and the city of Las Vegas, with silver sponsors Desert Radiology, Cox Communications and Republic Services.
