Las Vegas Residents Invited To Celebrations, Luncheons & Activities At City Centers

 

 

The city of Las Vegas active adult and senior centers offer exercise, fitness, craft, arts, dance, music and computer classes; cards; games; discussion and social groups; luncheons; sports; and special events Monday through Friday to residents age 50 and better. Many of these activities contribute to wellness and a healthy lifestyle. A listing of classes and activities is published in the Beyond the Neon Leisure Guide, available online at www.lasvegasparksandrec.com and in the centers. All activities are subject to change. Most activities require annual membership in city of Las Vegas Active Adult/Senior Citizen Programs, available at all senior and active adult centers. Annual membership cost is $10.

 

 

 

Weiner Wednesdays (ages 50+)

 

Wednesdays, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

 

Cost: $3, includes hot dog, chips and drink. Additional hot dog is $1.

Arthritis Foundation Walk With Ease Program (ages 18+)

 

Tuesday, Aug. 1, 11 a.m. Walking group will meet Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays at 11 a.m.

 

Cost: $20 for six weeks; includes workbook, instruction and pedometer.

 

East Las Vegas Community Center Ballroom, 250 N. Eastern Ave., 702-229-1515.

 

This program will have short instructional section, followed by a group walk and stretch in the air-conditioned ballroom. Everyone moves at their own pace. Group will cool down and stretch again at the end of the walk. Excellent training for those with arthritis. Call 702.229.1515 for information and registration. Indoor Garage Sale (all ages)

 

Thursday, Aug. 3, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

 

No admission charge for buyers of all ages. Sellers limited to seniors ages 50+.

Cost is $5 per table for sellers ages 50+ to participate. Tables will go on sale July 3; only 25 tables will be offered. Seniors have gathered their belongings to sell to the community at great prices; no crafts or food items will be sold.
