The Public Is Encouraged To Submit Nominations Through 5 P.M. Sept. 14

 

 

 

LAS VEGAS – Aug. 15, 2017 – The public is invited to nominate an individual and an organization for the 2017 Las Vegas Book Festival Crystal Bookmark Awards. This awards project recognizes contributions made to advancing the cause of literacy in Southern Nevada. The two awards will be presented at the Opening Reception for the Las Vegas Book Festival Friday, Oct. 20.

 

 

 

            Individual nominees and organizations must be based in Southern Nevada. Individuals cannot nominate themselves. Nominees must have made a contribution to the encouragement of the written, spoken and illustrated word in the past calendar year (September 2016 – September 2017). 

 

 

 

Nominations can be submitted online and are due 5 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 14. There is no cost to submit nominations. For more information, visit lasvegasbookfestival.org.

 

 

 

 

About the Las Vegas Book Festival

 

Previously known as the Vegas Valley Book Festival, the Las Vegas Book Festival is the largest literary event in Nevada. It will celebrate its 16th year with keynote speakers Daniel Handler, also known as Lemony Snicket, and Sharon Draper, five-time winner of the Coretta Scott King Literary Awards. Children’s entertainment, programming for young adults, poetry, workshops, exhibits, panel discussions and more will also be featured.

 

 

 

This annual celebration of the written, spoken and illustrated word is free and open to the public. It is sponsored by collaboration of local public sector and nonprofit partners including the city of Las Vegas, Las Vegas-Clark County Library District, Las Vegas-Clark County Library District Foundation, Nevada Humanities and the Beverly Rogers, Carol C. Harter Black Mountain Institute at UNLV.
