Enjoy A Los Angeles Band, A Rainbow Company Production And Christmas At The Opera!
Described by Los Angeles Times as “uniquely Angeleno mishmash of punk, hip-hop, beat music, cumbia and rock,” Las Cafeteras will bring their infectious sound to downtown Las Vegas Saturday, Nov. 18, at 7:30 p.m. at the Historic Fifth Street School, 401 S. Fourth St. They seamlessly fuse traditional Afro-Mexican music with modern rhythms and rich storytelling to create a fresh urban sound from the streets of East Los Angeles. The group has played with Juanes, Ozomatli, Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros, Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra and Talib Kweli. This program is supported, in part, with funds provided by the Western States Arts Federation.
“Follow the yellow brick road” with Rainbow Company Youth Theatre’s production of “The Wizard of Oz.” The whole family will enjoy this charming musical based on the popular L. Frank Baum stories. Travel back to Oz with Dorothy, her dog Toto and the memorable friends they meet along the way. Show times are 7 p.m. Dec. 1, 2, 8 and 9, and 2 p.m. Dec. 3, 9 and 10 at the Charleston Heights Arts Center, 800 S. Brush St. Tickets are $5.50 plus tax.
“Sin City Opera: Christmas at the Opera” will feature scenes celebrating the joy of Christmas from beloved operas such as “La Boheme,” “Werther” and “Amahl and the Night Visitors,” Saturday, Dec. 16, at Charleston Heights Arts Center, 800 S. Brush St. The 90-minute concert will showcase the best operatic talent from the Vegas valley as well as a very special performance from Sin City Opera’s summer camp performers. The show starts at 7:30 p.m.; tickets are $20 plus tax for adults and $10 plus tax for youth under 18.
