Main Will Be Painting Live And Signing Prints Of Her Painting“Vegas… Always In My Heart”
LAS VEGAS – Feb. 4, 2014 – Acclaimed Los Angeles-based artist Jennifer Main is having a special “heart encounter” at the new Art encounter gallery in the Forum Shops Valentine’s weekend, Friday and Saturday, Feb. 14 and 15 from 3-7 p.m.
Main is reuniting with her hometown mentor, Art encounter. For the occasion, she is unveiling a new collection exclusive to Art encounter and Las Vegas.
“I am thrilled to be represented by Art encounter again,” said Main. “They discovered me when I was 17 years old and helped launch my career as an artist. I look forward to all that’s ahead!”
Main’s style embraces bold vibrant color and a sense of whimsy. She enjoys painting exaggerated abstract figures and uses her work to illustrate the ups and downs of life’s beautiful journey.
“My goal is to share my heart openly and stay vulnerable on the canvas because I believe it keeps it real and relatable,” she said. “My paintings are more about a message or deeper story. I have always been drawn to the duality of everything and enjoy themes of good vs. evil, happy vs. sad, light vs. dark, and pain vs. pleasure. You can't have one without the other and it intrigues me. A lot of my inspiration comes from what I am personally going through and learning.”
“It is a thrill for us to be featuring Jennifer’s distinguished artwork again in our gallery,” said her mentor and gallery owner Rod Maly. “Even when she was a teenager, her extraordinary talent was immediately recognizable and has only continued to progress.”
Main has remained a successful full-time artist and had her work displayed in galleries all over the U.S. and Canada. In 2002, she opened the Jennifer Main Gallery and studio in Las Vegas. In 2012, Main and her husband moved to downtown Los Angeles where she currently maintains her studio.
Two of Main’s works are in the permanent collection at The Smith Center for the Performing Arts. One of them, a large painted heart sculpture prominently displayed at the entrance, raised $40,000 for St. Jude Children's Hospital and was gifted to The Smith Center by the generous donor.
