Youths Ages 10-15 From All Over North America To Compete
Everyone is invited to watch 290 youth soccer teams from 11 U.S. states, Mexico and Canada compete in the 11th annual Las Vegas Mayor’s Cup International Tournament Oct. 22-24. The tournament will be held at the Bettye Wilson Soccer Complex, Kellogg Zaher Sports Complex, Ed Fountain Park, Centennial Hills Park and Teton Trails Park. The event is being co-hosted by the city of Las Vegas and the Downtown Las Vegas Soccer Club.
Teams of boys and girls ages 10 to 15 will compete between 6 and 9 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 22; between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 23; and between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 24. All Friday games will be played at Bettye Wilson Soccer Complex, and will include only local teams. Admission to games is free all weekend. Spectators should bring their own seating, as thousands of people are expected to attend and participate.
“I can’t believe the Mayor’s Cup Soccer Tournament is already in its second decade,” Mayor Oscar B. Goodman said. “Every year the tournament gets better and better, and I invite all Las Vegas residents to come out and share in the fun.”
The Bettye Wilson Soccer Complex is located at West Lake Mead Boulevard and Tenaya Way. The Kellogg Zaher Sports Complex is located on West Washington Avenue, between Buffalo and Durango drives. Ed Fountain Park can be found at Vegas Drive and Decatur Boulevard. Centennial Hills Park soccer fields are at North Buffalo Drive and Elkhorn Road. Soccer fields in Teton Trails Park are accessed from Grand Teton Drive at Thom Boulevard.
Members of first- and second-place teams will receive individual medals in each age division, and a trophy will be awarded to all first-place teams. All players will receive a tournament program and collectible pin. Awards will begin at approximately 2 p.m. Sunday and continue throughout the day.
