Las Vegas, NVNational Technical Institute (NTI), a state approved trade school with campuses in Las Vegas and Phoenix that specializes in HVAC/R, plumbing and electrical training and certifications, has experienced tremendous growth during the COVID-19 pandemic. While people were furloughed and laid off, many turned to NTI to start a new career, one that is considered essential and in demand.

Due to a shortage in skilled laborers, NTI has experienced an increase in enrollment rates by 50% over the past six months. Because of this, the school has outgrown its current Henderson facility and plans to relocate to a larger campus in 2021 to keep up with demand.

“During the pandemic-induced economic shutdown, many people realized a career in an essential and stable industry could be a great opportunity,” said Chief Operating Officer David Lee. “There is always a demand for skilled trade professionals, as contractor partners eagerly look to our new graduates to fill the void.”

According to the Department of Labor’s Occupational Outlook Handbook, demand for both plumbers and HVAC workers should continue to grow through 2029. Additionally, America is facing an unprecedented skilled labor shortage. According to the Department of Labor, the US economy had 6.5 million unfilled jobs, and only 5.9 million people filling those openings.

Boasting an average graduation rate of 98%, NTI differs from other trade schools as they offer flexible financing options, a comprehensive fast-track program, and a unique hybrid learning model. Taking only 12 weeks to complete a certification, graduates enter the workforce with high earnings potential as the average salary for HVAC installers and mechanics is $48,730, $56,180 for electricians, and $55,160 for plumbers. From the start of the pandemic in March through September, 83.2% of NTI graduates who reported employment and completed training this year have been hired by notable service providers throughout the valley including Climate Control Experts, Goettl Air Conditioning & Plumbing, and Sierra Air Conditioning.

NTI offers a HVAC Fusion Training Program consisting of online classes and in-person training. Featuring the only real-life, hands-on HVAC Installation Training Facility in the state of Nevada, the school’s advanced labs consist of the most modern and relevant HVAC mechanical, commercial refrigeration and electrical training equipment in the industry.
