The Event Is Free And Open To All Ages

 

 

LAS VEGAS – Oct. 9, 2018 – The 2018 Las Vegas Book Festival Saturday, Oct. 20, at the Historic Fifth Street School, 401 S. Fourth St., will feature best-selling authors, panel discussions, workshops and more for all ages. The annual event is free and open to the public.

 

 

 In addition to previously announced keynote speakers Luis Rodriguez, Sara Shepard and Colson Whitehead, over 15 discussions are scheduled on topics that cover trends and issues in literature. Highlights include:

 

· Welcome to Our Worlds: Young Adult Sci-Fi & Fantasy 

with Adrianne . Finlay, Alexandra Monir, Axie Oh and Scott Westerfeld;

 

· Things Just Got Real: Young Adult Contemporary Fiction 

with B.T. Gottfred , Nicole Maggi, Renée Watson and Kasie West;

 

· Middle Matters: Middle Grade Stories for Everyone 

with Jonathan Auxier, Mari Mancusi, Mae Respicio and Elly Swartz;

 

· You Can’t Have One Without the Other: Politics, Pop Culture and

Democracy Today 

with Hanif Abdurraqib, Tom Carson and Carina Chocano,

moderated by Todd Felts;

 

· On Im/migration: How Do We Define Home? 

with Derek Palacio and Joe Milan Jr.

 

 

There also will be areas of the festival dedicated to musical performances (Discovery Tent), readings (Imagination Tent), illustration demonstrations (Engaged Tent) and workshops (Room 140).
