Celebrate Our Favorite Felines 5-7 P.M. At First Street & Coolidge Avenue Downtown
Las Vegas residents and visitors are invited to join the celebration as we re-dedicate the “Snowball in Vegas” sculpture at the corner of First Street & Coolidge Avenue downtown – a great spot for a Vegas selfie! Join renowned cat wellness expert Jackson Galaxy (host of Animal Planet's "My Cat From Hell," who is holding Cat Camp in Las Vegas Nov. 9-10), artist Jesse Carson Smigel (creator of Snowball in Vegas), UNLV College of Fine Arts representatives and numerous animal advocacy organizations for a Cat Appreciation Day outdoor street festival Thursday, Nov. 7, from 5 to 7 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.
Coolidge Avenue will be closed from Main Street to Casino Center, and First Street will be closed from Coolidge to just north of Boulder Avenue for the street festival, which will include food trucks, jazz music, vendors, artists, speakers, projections and videos (courtesy of UNLV), community cat advocacy and adoption groups, and more. The city of Las Vegas Animal Control trailer and staff, and Lied Animal Shelter representatives will be on site to answer questions and offer kitties for adoption. Nearby parking is available at the City Parking Garage at 500 S. Main St. as well as on-street parking on adjacent streets. Don’t miss the “kitty parade” of felines available for adoption at 6 p.m.
Jackson Galaxy's Cat Camp is a weekend-long adventure Nov. 9-10 in Las Vegas about exploring and celebrating your love for cats. The immersive experience with a summer camp-like atmosphere will include educational speakers and panels, arts and crafts, workshops, vendors, counselors and more. Cat Camp is about celebrating cats, connecting with our community, and cultivating advocacy. The event is held in partnership with the Petco Foundation.
