Media Invited To Attend Class Presentations Nov. 19 And Mural Painting Nov. 24-26 At KO Knudson Middle School
In an effort to teach middle school students about storm water pollution in a fun and artistic way, city of Las Vegas staff members and artist Myranda Bair are visiting six Clark County School District schools for an interactive presentation and development of a small mural. Booklets, illustrated by Bair, will also be used in the educational process.
Presentations and mural development has begun and will continue until the end of the school year. The six schools participating in the program are:
- Hyde Park Middle School
- Walter Johnson Jr. High School Academy of International Studies
- KO Knudson Middle School
- Ernest Becker Middle School
- Robert O. Gibson Middle School
- Lied STEM Academy
At each school, one science class has been selected for an in-class presentation with city staff where students receive the interactive booklet “Stormwater in the Las Vegas Desert.” The class, along with the teacher, then help develop a small storm drain pollution mural to be painted near the school by Bair at a later date.
Members of the media are invited to attend the class presentation on Tuesday, Nov. 19, at K.O. Knudson Middle School, 2400 Atlantic St., at 7:55 a.m. They are also welcome as Bair creates the mural from Nov. 24 – 26.
