Winter Basketball Recreation League (ages 5-12)

Registration is open Dec. 16-Jan. 6 for league play Feb. 1-March 14, 2020.

Cost: $85 per youth, includes jersey.

Teams receive two weeks of practice prior to season and one practice per week during the season (based upon availability). Teams are guaranteed seven games during the season. There will be no playoffs. Volunteer coaches needed! Coaches will receive NAYS training prior to coaching. All scheduled games will be played at various city of Las Vegas community centers. Most games will be played on Saturdays. However, if necessary, games may be scheduled for weekday evenings. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Community Youth Basketball Tournament

Free and open to school and youth programs basketball teams

Thursday-Saturday, Jan. 9–11.

This single-elimination youth basketball tournament will be held in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. This tournament is open to all participants that qualify through their respective schools or youth program. Pop-Up Fun in Selected Parks (all ages)

2nd, 3rd and 4th Fridays and Saturdays

Free and open to the public. Advance registration is not required.

Stay Prepared for School Fair and Health Fair

As part of the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s DREAM program, the city of Las Vegas will host the annual Stay Prepared for School Fair. Grade-school children will have the opportunity to receive school supplies and additional resources that will support their academic success for the remainder of the school year. High-school students ages 15-18 will be eligible to attend workshops focused on resume creation and interviewing skills. Enjoy an afternoon of entertainment, refreshments, face painting, and more. The Las Vegas My Brother’s Keeper Alliance is hosting a full-day conference with national experts, legislators, school administrators, law enforcement, educators, social services providers, clinicians, advocates and other community stakeholders. This is an action-focused convening to discuss educational equity, racial justice, adults as youth allies, impactful mentoring, school climate and connectedness, and critical education policy issues. The Las Vegas My Brother’s Keeper Alliance is a cross-sectoral collaborative comprised of three task forces that work to engage the community, promote optimal educational outcomes and improve law enforcement systems and programs.
