This five-day residential camp for youth, ages 10-21 with developmental disabilities, provides an array of recreational activities in Calabasas, California. Activities include group sports, swimming, arts and crafts, hiking and daily trips to Zuma Beach. This camp enhances participants’ self-esteem and independence while offering the opportunity for social, emotional and intellectual growth. Cost: $150; limited scholarships available for those who qualify.

American Red Cross Lifeguard Training at Municipal Pool (ages 15+) Monday-Friday, April 15-19, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Cost: discounted to $35 (from $160 original price) if hired as a summer lifeguard for the city of Las Vegas. For prospective city of Las Vegas employees, this training for qualified participants earns an American Red Cross Universal Certificate for Lifeguarding/First-Aid/CPR/ADE that is valid for two years upon successful completion. Intended as a class/tryout/job interview all in one, the training offers successful participants who pass the city’s swim test and sign a contract, a guaranteed lifeguard position with the city. Should candidates choose not to move forward with employment with the city at the conclusion of class, they will need to pay an additional $125 to receive their certification.
