Featured Artists Will Perform Between July 10 And Aug. 3
Tickets are now on sale for the city of Las Vegas’ annual Children’s Summer Concert Series, an engaging program designed to provide an opportunity for families to enjoy the arts. Held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday (Charleston Heights Arts Center, 800 Brush St.) and Thursday (Historic Fifth Street School, 401 S. Fourth St.) July 10, 11, 24, 25 and 31 and Aug. 1, these concerts will explore music through songs, movement and stories. A special weekend performance with Story Pirates will close out the series Saturday, Aug. 3, at 2:30 p.m. at the Historic Fifth Street School.
Featured artists include:
- Okee Dokee Brothers: The Grammy Award-winning folk music duo has been exploring the outdoors together since they were kids; now, Justin Lansing and Joe Mailander put the natural world at the heart of their Americana music. With songs written under wide-open skies and harmonies fine-tuned around the campfire, they will perform songs from their new album “” The duo make room for kids to dance, for parents to share stories and for everyone to gain respect for nature, each other and the world we live in.
- The Lucky Band: Straight off of live appearances on CNN, Sprout, and Univision, along with a nationwide tour, husband and wife duo Lucky Diaz and Alisha Gaddis are acclaimed by the Washington Post, Red Tricycle and Style Network. People Magazine called their album "The number 1 in COOLEST kids' music!" They are the first, and only, American group to win a Latin Grammy in the Children’s Album category. Audience members should prepare for a hip-shaking, head-bopping dance party to indie fresh pop rock beats.
- Story Pirates: When the Pirates take the stage, everyone is amazed at what happens next... and so are they! That is because the 60-minute show they perform has not yet been written. The Pirates will take audience members’ ideas and incorporate them on the spot into an interactive show that validates the imagination of every child present. Laugh as you invent monsters, dancing ninjas, superhero tomatoes - or any other idea called out - and watch the Story Pirates bring their ideas to life. “Create-A-Show” is as crazy, hilarious and unexpected as kids themselves.
Tickets for each show are $5 plus tax and fees. A series FLEX Pass is available with 10 tickets that can be redeemed at any time during the series; the pass offers savings off the single ticket price, a one-time processing fee and the best available seats at the time of redemption.
