Join Ward 3 Councilwoman Olivia Diaz At 1020 E. St. Louis Ave.
The public is invited to join Las Vegas Ward 3 Councilwoman Olivia Diaz at 4 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 14, for the grand reopening of Baker Park. The park is located at 1020 E. St. Louis Ave. Ceremonies will take place near the soccer field entrance. Refreshments will be served and the UNLV Men’s Soccer Team will present a soccer demonstration.
The $7.3 million project includes a new water play area, artificial turf for soccer fields, new restrooms, equipment to improve energy efficiency for Baker Pool and soccer theming. The project plan was the result of many public meetings with residents and park users.
“This popular park is a wonderful place for children and families to play and exercise,” said Councilwoman Diaz. “The playgrounds and improved soccer fields can be enjoyed now, and the children are looking forward to using the new splash pad and improved pool next spring.”
One of 26 sports parks in the city of Las Vegas, the park is named after former Mayor C.D. Baker, who was known for numerous infrastructure projects.
The rehabilitation of the park began in November 2018. Baker Pool will be closed to the general public until outdoor pools reopen in the summer of 2020.
