Legendary Fight Club author to headline Vegas Valley Book Festival

LAS VEGAS - Tickets are now available to hear renowned author Chuck Palahniuk, who will appear in Las Vegas as part of the 2006 Vegas Valley Book Festival. Palahniuk will speak at the UNLV Student Union at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 4. A book signing will follow. Tickets are $12 in advance, and can be purchased at www.vegasvalleybookfest.org.

Known for his signature mix of satirical humor and bizarre characters, Palahniuk has cultivated a devoted following across the country. His works of fiction include Fight Club, Haunted, Survivor, Invisible Monsters, Choke, Lullaby, and Diary, as well as the nonfiction collection Stranger Than Fiction. He is also the subject of the 2003 documentary film Postcards from the Future.

Palahniuk's presentation will mark the conclusion of the book festival program, which runs November 3-4. Approximately 30 local and nationally acclaimed authors, journalists, illustrators and artists will participate in this celebration of the written, spoken and illustrated word. The festival's two full days of programming will include readings, panel discussions, poetry performances and book signings, and the debut of the Target Children's Book Festival on Saturday, Nov. 4.

Presented by Nevada Humanities and the City of Las Vegas Department of Cultural Affairs, the festival is an annual community event sponsored by the Las Vegas Review-Journal, Barnes & Noble, National Endowment for the Arts, The Art Institute of Las Vegas, Cox Communications and Nevada Public Radio.
